Picolinic acid/2-吡啶甲酸 生物活性

描述 Picolinic acid (PCL 016; PA) is a natural toxic pyridine derivative. Microorganisms can degrade and utilize PA for growth[1]. In contrast to kynurenine and 3-hydroxyanthranilic acid, exposure of T cells with picolinic acid did not affect cell viability, whereas proliferation and metabolic activity were suppressed in a dose-dependent manner. Picolinic acid mediates a unique immunosuppressive program in T cells, mainly inhibiting cell cycle and metabolic activity, while leaving other effector functions intact[2]. PIC (Picolinic acid) significantly decreased the electroconvulsive threshold and, after intracerebroventricular injection, but not subcutaneous, produced convulsions. Of the studied convulsants, only the activity of pilocarpine hydrochloride was significantly enhanced by PIC[3]. Furthermore, picolinic acid may affect NO2- production via both TNF-alpha-dependent and TNF-alpha-independent pathways[4].
