描述

Stimulator of interferon genes (STING; encoded by TMEM173) is a signaling molecule associated with the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and is essential for controlling the transcription of numerous host defence genes. ^[1]. 2',3'-cGAMP is a second messenger that binds and activates the adaptor protein STING with a Kd value of 3.79 nM, which triggers the innate immune response. It is a potent inducer of IFN-β mRNA expression with an EC50 value of 19.4 nM in L929 cells. ^[2]. Coinjection of 2′3′-cGAMP (1mg/m; intrathoracic injection) with DCV or the related CrPV resulted in a significant decrease in viral RNA accumulation in WT flies. Accordingly, 2′3′-cGAMP improved the survival of DCV-infected WT flies^[3]. Thousands of genes were induced by 2’3’-cGAMP, many of which are homologs of genes known to function in mammalian immunity in N. vectensis after 24 h treatment (500 μM in bath of 1/3× sea water). Immune gene induction downstream of 2',3'-cGAMP also occur in embryo with lower dose and shorter treatment (100 μM in bath of 1/3× sea water)^[4].
