GDP-L-fucose disodium is a nucleotide sugar essential as a substrate in the biosynthesis of fucose oligosaccharides. It supplies the fucose component for these oligosaccharides. GDP-L-fucose disodium is synthesized via two metabolic pathways: the primary de novo pathway and the secondary salvage pathway^[1].
