4-Hydroxybenzyl alcohol/对羟基苯甲醇 生物活性

描述 4-Hydroxybenzyl Alcohol (4-HBA), a kind of phenolic compounds, has been found in many plants, like Gastrodia elata Blume. It has many biological activities, such as anti-angiogenic, anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive activity [1] . In vitro studies, it was found that 4-HBA could significantly increase the astrocytes' ability of anti-oxidation by activation of Nrf2 and induction of HO-1. For example, after 6 hrs treatment with 100 μM 4-HBA, the survival rate of C6 cells in hydrogen peroxide (100 μM, 1 hr) would be increased from 54.2±0.7% to 85.9±1.5% [2] . In vivo studies, 4-HBA could be used in some neurological disorders. When given 50 and 100 mg/kg, the rats with cerebral injury would have better performance in many neurological indicators, such as smaller cerebral infarct size, little degenerated neurons and so on [3] .
