描述 Clonidine hydrochloride is a potent antihypertensive agent. Clonidine, as an alpha-adrenergic receptor agonist, is one of the most versatile and effective agents presently available for the treatment of hypertension[3]. Clonidine could stimulate CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide) synthesis and secretion in endothelial cells through the activation of alpha(2)-adrenoceptor, which is related to the NO pathway[4]. Clonidine (0.003-0.1 mg/kg, i.p.) dose-dependently attenuated the ability of phencyclidine (2.5 mg/kg, i.p.) to increase cortical dopamine output[5].
