生物活性
描述 (RS)-MCPG (alpha-MCPG) is a competitive and selective group I/group II metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) antagonist. (RS)-MCPG (alpha-MCPG; 500 μM) blocks the TBS-induced shifts in EGABA in either juvenile or neonatal neurons[2]. Superfusion of MCPG (500 microM) significantly reduced the amplitude of evoked EPSPs(excitatory postsynaptic potentials)[3]. Frequency-dependent depression of EPSC amplitudes occurs independent of endogenous activation of MCPG-sensitive mGluRs in cultured hippocampal neurons[4]. (RS)-MCPG which had no effect on locomotor activity when given to saline pre-exposed rats induced significantly higher locomotor activity in AMPH (amphetamine) compared to saline pre-exposed rats[5]. Rats were trained on a spatial alternation task in a Y-maze with footshock reinforcement, and MCPG (0.0208 mg) was injected intracerebroventricularly prior to training and/or retention test. Animals injected pre-training are clearly impaired in retention, whereas preretention application was without effect. dditionally, MCPG at the same concentration completely blocks a potentiation at perforant path/dentate gyrus synapses in vivo[6]. Moreover, (RS)-alpha-methyl-4-carboxyphenylglycine (MCPG), blocks Y-maze spatial alternation learning[7].
