描述 | Daidzein, often found in nuts, fruits, soybean and soybean products, belongs to isoflavone phytoestrogens. Daidzein is considered chemoprotective and can be used as an alternative therapy for a wide range of hormonal disorders, including several cancer types[3]. In vitro, daidzein inhibited choriocarcinoma cell lines JAR and JEG-3 cells growth in a time- and dose-dependent (12.5 - 400 µM) manner and cell cycle was arrested at G1 phase through suppressing ERK pathway[4]. Daidzein significantly enhanced alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity dose-dependently, with a maximal role at a dose of 10 μg/mL (P<0.05) in OCT1 cells. Daidzein (10 μg/mL) stimulated osteoblast proliferation and differentiation through stimulating the activation of the BMP-2/Smads pathway[5]. In vivo, C57BL/6J mice administered with western-style diet (WD) + genistein and WD + daidzein showed a robust decrease in body weight gain by 40% and 19%, respectively (p < 0.05), compared to WD-fed mice. Genistein reduced energy intake by 26%, and daidzein decreased energy intake by 8% (p < 0.05)[6]. |
