描述 Sunifiram (DM-235) is a nootropic compound that, unlike piracetam, exhibits significant potency in enhancing cognitive functions in animal models. Structurally akin to ampakines, it has been found to reverse amnesia induced by AMPA receptor antagonists without affecting motor coordination or spontaneous motility[1].

Animal study Moreover, sunifiram enhances long-term potentiation (LTP) in mouse hippocampal slices at concentrations of 10-100 nM, with a peak effect at 10 nM. This enhancement is blocked by 7-chloro-kynurenic acid, a glycine-binding site antagonist of the NMDA receptor, suggesting its action involves modulation of NMDAR activity[2].Furthermore, in experiments with olfactory bulbectomized (OBX) mice, daily administration of sunifiram (0.01-1.0 mg/kg orally) for 7-12 days post-operation demonstrated potential cognitive benefits, further emphasizing its action on NMDAR[3].
