Diflorasone is a topical corticosteroid used to treat itching and inflammation of the skin, which can reduce production of the inflammatory cytokines Il-6, Il-4, and macrophage inflammatory protein-2 (Mip-2).
Diflorasone act as a corticosteroid hormone receptor agonist with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. Diflorasone enters the cell by diffusion across the cell membrane and binds to the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in the cytoplasm[1]. 0.05% diflorasone diacetate cream was as effective as 0.05% fluocinonide cream in the therapy of lesions of psoriasis or atopic/neurodermatitis[2]. Diflorasone inhibits RANTES and thymus and activation regulated chemokine (TARC) in a dinitrochlorobenzene-induced mouse model of allergic contact dermatitis[3]. It also inhibits proliferation of human keratinocytes in vitro and reduces epidermal thickening in a mouse model of psoriasis induced by imiquimod[4].
