描述 | Dihydroresveratrol has been identified as a phytoalexin in Orchidaceae, in Cannabis sativaL., and in the tuber of Dioscorea dumetorum, where its production seems to be elicited by fungal infection[2]. As a well-known metabolite of transresveratrol formed in the intestine, dihydroresveratrol is a potent phytoestrogen that acts as a hormone receptor modulator. Dihydroresveratrol demonstrated strong proliferative properties in hormone-dependent cell lines (such as MCF-7) at picomolar (10-12 M) concentrations. At high concentrations (1×10-5 to 1×10-3 M), dihydroresveratrol showed a typical decrease in the growth rate of both PC-3 prostate cancer cells and DU-145 tumor cells. However, treatment with 1×10-10 to 1×10-8 M of dihydroresveratrol significantly increased the growth of both the same cells indicating dihydroresveratrol having a biphasic effect[3]. |
