Ethisterone (17α-ethynyl-17β-hydroxyandrost-4-en-3-one) is a synthetic steroidal estrogen used as an oral contraceptive[2]. Some interference with sexual function may not be uncommon in males exposed to high doses of stilboestrol and ethisterone while in utero[3]. Danazol, a heterocyclic steroid related chemically to Ethisterone. In experimental animals various doses of danazol have suppressed gonadal weight (rats), suppressed pituitary gonadotropins (rats and humans), suppressed gonadotropin-releasing hormones (rats and humans), suppressed fertility (rats and rhesus monkeys), and suppressed gonadal steroidogenesis (rats and hamsters)[4].
