描述 | Azithromycin, at a concentration of 2 µM, enhances rhinovirus-induced IFNβ expression in primary bronchial epithelial cells from individuals with asthma. This effect is tied to the upregulation of RIG-I like receptors and suppression of viral replication. The knockdown of MDA5, but not RIG-I, reduces the azithromycin-enhanced viral-induced IFNβ expression in these cells[1]. Azithromycin also specifically lowers MMP-9 mRNA and protein levels without influencing NF-κB activity in endotoxin-challenged monocytic THP-1 cells[2]. |
