描述

Diethylstilbestrol is a synthetic estrogen receptor agonist structurally related to estradiol. Diethylstilbestrol at 20µM results in 30±13% and 43±4% displacement of [3H]-estradiol from the sex hormone-binding globulin steroid-binding site in the serum and dextran-coated charcoal-treated serum[3]. Prostate cancer PC-3 cells treated with 30µM diethylstilbestrol for 72 hours show smaller nuclei compared with the control group. Diethylstilbestrol at 15 and 30µM induces apoptosis of androgen-insensitive prostate cancer cells[4].
