Ethoxyquin (EQ) does not inhibit Paclitaxel's (PTX) ability to induce cell death in four different breast cancer cell lines. Importantly, the neuroprotective effect of Ethoxyquin is only observable when Hsp90 levels are not reduced; a decrease in Hsp90 abrogates this neuroprotection[2]. Ethoxyquin is most effective as a neuroprotectant at concentrations ranging from 30 to 300 nM. Higher concentrations in the micromolar (μM) range fail to enhance neuroprotection and, in fact, result in the loss of these neuroprotective properties[3].
