| 描述 | Orotic acid, also known as 6-Carboxyuracil, serves as a precursor in the biosynthesis of pyrimidine nucleotides and RNA. It is released from mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) and converted to UMP by the cytoplasmic UMP synthase enzyme. Orotic acid is utilized as a biomarker in routine newborn screening for urea cycle disorders and can induce hepatic steatosis and hepatomegaly in rats[1][2][3]. | ||
