Adelmidrol exerts important anti-inflammatory effects that are partly dependent on PPARγ. Adelmidrol (10 mg/kg, o.s.) reduces significantly the degree and severity of the macroscopic and histologic signs of colon injury. Adelmidrol (10 mg/kg, o.s.) treatment significantly reduces the loss of body weight[1]. Moreover, adelmidrol treatment was able to manage the significant incapacity of antioxidants and elevation of the oxidant burden, as shown by the MDA, SOD, and GSH levels and decreased nitric oxide production. It was also able to significantly modulate the JAK2/STAT3 and IκBα/NF-kB pathway[2]. The combination of hyaluronic acid and adelmidrol improves the signs of OA (Osteoarthritis) induced by MIA (monosodium iodoacetate)[3]. Topical treatment with adelmidrol might represent a new therapeutic tool in controlling the early and late allergic inflammatory skin responses in companion animals[4].
